FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toronto, Canada March 14, 2013 – Canadian Music Mogul Farley Flex is creating a platform to work directly with Canadian Urban music artists on the rise in a development capacity. His goal; to help carve out a rightful place for Canadian Hip Hop and R&B in the mainstream.

Flex, who has been a pioneer in the business for over 25 years says the Canadian Music industry still hasn’t embraced Hip Hop and R&B as viable mainstream genres, and he is set on reshaping the landscape for the next generation.

He states,

“Let me begin by expressing my admiration for every single individual that is in the trenches of the Canadian Hip Hop scene. This includes MCs, Producers, DJs, Managers, Indie Label operators, Publicists, Promoters, etc. The fact is, the Canadian industry still hasn’t embraced Hip Hop and R&B as viable mainstream genres of music and has been complacent in its behavior except for a few sporadic incidents where an undeniable hit like, Let You Backbone Slide, My Definition, Northern Touch, Dangerous or Best I Ever Had hits the market. The problem is that those tracks represent a 24 year timeline. I can’t even think of a bona fide nationally embraced R&B hit”.

Flex, best known for being a judge on Canadian Idol, played an integral part in founding Canada’s first Urban-music format radio station FLOW 93.5, and also served as the honorary co-chair of the successful re-election campaign of Toronto Mayor David Miller.  His success with Maestro, the first Canadian Mainstream rapper is a testament to his understanding of the obstacles Urban artists face in Canada.

The unofficial CMW Hip Hop Showcase “On the Radar” is his first step back into the arena. While partnering with Gee Wunder – a label owner and operator, and Nisa Hot- a media and communications major at Ryerson University. Farley Flex and the team are launching a new platform for Canadian Urban artists to grow their fan base and networks  under the guidance of seasoned music business veterans.

“If hip hop and R&B artists truly collaborate in Canada, I mean truly collaborate, the game WILL change not for the better but for the best”. – Farley Flex
