CaribbeanTales welcomes a Hispanic presence throughout its programing for the 8th annual Toronto film showcase. This presentation of films includes two shorts; Cinco Minutos Para Mi Pais, No Creo Que Somos Iguales, and two features; El Medico and Elliot Loves. Scheduling for these films can be found below:

Cinco Minutos Para Mi Pais – Dominique Telemaque, Haiti/Dominican Republic, French/Spanish, 2 mins.
5 Minutes for my Country tells the story of Julien, a young Haitian student in Santo Domingo, who in the face of all obstacles, struggles to finish his studies, so as to be able to donate the gift of his intelligence towards his country’s development.
No Creo Que Somos Iguales – Dominique Telemaque, Haiti/Dominican Republic, French/Spanish, 6 mins.
Two Shoe-Shine boys, one Dominican, and the other Haitian, discuss the concept of “Equality”.
9 p.m. – Feature (free)
El Medico – Daniel Fridell, Cuba, Spanish, 85 mins, 2012, Canadian Premiere.
A young Cuban man has to choose between his duty to the State, and to his mother, and fulfilling his own ambitions to become a hip hop artist.
7 p.m. – Feature ($20):
Elliot Loves – Gary Terracino, (Dominican Republic/USA) 2012, 95 mins. (Canadian Premiere)
A delightful romantic comedy about a young boy’s transition from island life with his mother to finding romance in the Big Apple.
