Toronto Comedian MALIAKA BRYCE launches “Laugh-A-Thon Campaign”

PRESS RELEASE
May 16, 2014 —  For Immediate Release

Comedian MALIAKA BRYCE launches “Laugh-A-Thon Campaign”

MaliakaBTV4

Toronto funny girl, Maliaka Bryce is seriously funny as she aims to serve up good vibes with the production of her Indigogo crowd sourcing campaign “The Maliaka Bryce Laugh-A-Thon Campaign” to raise $15,000 to cover the production costs of her sure-to-be hilarious comedy DVD. Maliaka plans to post a hilarious new joke or skit online via Facebook /Twitter/ InstaGram everyday starting May 9, to May 20, 2014 in order to raise funds and awareness for her project.

Exactly what is a Laugh-A-Thon anyway? Think a marathon of laughter, only coming up for air with a healthy dose of “I know someone like that!” in-between. Comedienne, Host and Producer, Maliaka Bryce is a Toronto-based entertainer who has performed for over 40,000 people creating laughter and fun with her unique brand of Jamaican/Canadian humor while growing a loyal fan base.

And if laughter is the best medicine, then O/D on Maliaka, your comedian pharmacist of choice; because everybody feels better when they laugh, and tend to be a little more liberal with their spending too. That’s where the donations come in.  The Maliaka Bryce- Laugh-a-Thon is loaded with perks and benefits with sponsorship packages starting from only $45 dollars. More information and to donate click here …

The Last Laugh

You’re either laughing with or at her. Maliaka’s entry into the world of entertainment in 2002 was like a stand-up comedy drama; It took her weeks of pleading to get the owner of a local sports bar in Montego Bay, Jamaica to agree to let her emcee the bar’s karaoke night. On her opening night she was booed off the stage. The owner, however, saw something in Maliaka and, to the utter dismay of the patrons; he invited her back the following week to try again. Maliaka took the snide remarks in stride, cried A LOT, but refused to give up.

Within two years, she was dubbed Mobay’s Queen of Karaoke and her sultry voice and quirky personality landed her a radio show on one of the island’s most popular station’s, Mello FM. Maliaka jumped from Jamaican radio to the acting stage and finally to Jamaican television before she returned to Toronto in 2010 with a nomination from the Actor Boy Awards, their Oscar’s, for Best Actress in a supporting role.

Having headlined her first one-hour special on April 4, 2014, hosted by Jay Martin, Maliaka is ready to take the next leap forward towards becoming a household name in Canada and the Caribbean while honing a reputation as the entertainer of choice. Cue production of hilarious, high-quality comedy DVD for international distribution…but she needs your help.

Invest in LAUGHTER and Feel Good

The average cost for this type of production ranges from $60,000 to $200,000.00. However, during her 12 years in the industry, through her connections and friendship with some of the best production and creative specialists in Canada and them lending their support, Maliaka has significantly reduced the overheads to only $15,000.00 (which is almost like getting it done for free, almost!)

Laughing Matters

Wonderful things happen in your mind and body when you laugh, besides the urge the use the lavatory. We’ve all experienced how laughter instantly improves our moods, helps keep life’s challenges in perspective, greatly reduces stress, and improves sex. So do yourself a favour and laugh, hard, laugh often and laugh with Maliaka. No contribution is too small, so this is one time size doesn’t matter!

To make your donation or for more details please check out the Indigogo crowd sourcing project page entitled MALIAKA BRYCE – Laugh-A- Thon Campaign  or https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=maliaka+bryce+epic+begging

NEW MUSIC ARTISTS GIVEN A ROTATIONAL PLATFORM ON CHRY 105.5 FM

CHRY-AMPtraxFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW MUSIC ARTISTS GIVEN A ROTATIONAL PLATFORM

Toronto – On Monday, November 25th, CHRY 105.5 FM launched its newest programming initiative, AMPTrax. Short of Amplified Music Plays, AMPTrax are songs deemed worthy of extra plays across the CHRY program grid.  “AMPTrax allows the CHRY music department to leverage its existing relationship with emerging, independent artists and further gives local and Canadian talent a leg up in Toronto’s hyper-competitive radio market,” says Randy Reid, CHRY’s Program Director.

AMPTrax airs 105 times throughout our programming week with individual tracks receiving more than a dozen plus spins. Much of the music spotlighted are chosen by a collective of highly engaged and connected music connoisseurs (many of which contribute to the CHRY music department and are further engaged in the music industry across Canada in a variety of ways). The artists/bands spotlighted represent genres and emerging acts that would struggle to get ‘regular rotation’ spins in mainstream and broadcast arenas across the country due to the gross saturation of media ownership in markets across Canada. AMPTrax is a direct answer to this void.

The premiere group of artist/songs includes:

Eamon McGrath – “Bitter Ends” (eamonmcgrath.ca)

Shi Wisdom – “Monster” (shiwisdommusic.bandcamp.com)

Exco Levi – “Holding On” (www.excolevi.com)

The Knobodies – “Summer” (xiisundays.com/‎)

Bizzarh – “Moments” (bizzarh.bandcamp.com/‎)

Artists and labels looking to submit music for AMPTrax consideration can email hi-quality mp3 files (320 kbs)and a brief bio to amptrax@chry.fm. Preference is given to local and independent artists.

CHRY looks forward to working with artists, labels and the general music community at large as they continue to grow in their contributions to Canada’s new music scene.

TORONTO’S CHRY 105.5 FM LAUNCHES NEW SOUND DESIGN

CHRY CHRY 105.5 FM LAUNCHES NEW SOUND DESIGN

Radio more than any other medium is defined by the quality and delivery of its sound/audio.  For more than 26 years CHRY 105.5FM has been defined by its unique and diverse sound.  This week CHRY takes the bold step of re-defining its sound for their listening audience and engagement of a wider demographic. The sound to be presented is a partial preview into a larger organizational shift currently in progress.  Earlier in 2013 CHRY embraced the undertaking of reimaging and reconnecting with the long-standing traditions of radio and quality content development, they further embodied it in the tag line: Your Leading Source for Diversity.  This latest step in enhancing their audio is to illustrate a commitment to excellence in broadcast media through sound design.

As of  Monday November 25th, 2013 listeners can tune-in to the sound and imaging launch.  As you go between the varied programs CHRY offers, the new ‘signature voices’ will help navigate you through the diversity in language, cultural and innovative music/spoken word programming.  As a burgeoning not-for-profit social enterprise, CHRY has secured two entirely new, yet wildly experienced and talented voices to the Toronto broadcast market.

Don Amiche and Jessica Gomes represent a winning combination of vocal command and appeal. Don Amiche (Los Angeles) has dominated ratings in broadcasts world-wide from Barbados to the United States and will entice Toronto markets. Jessica Gomes (Australia) is a Jill of all-trades from International fashion magazine campaigns with Vogue and Victoria Secret; her voice is most readily recognizable as the ‘Maybach Music Girl’ heard millions of times over on the top hip hop music label releases of Maybach Music (owned by rapper Rick Ross).

CHRY is pleased that this new sound design project will clearly respond to the expectations of its advertising clients across the GTA, who appreciate the impact of radio and its ability to move their products.  And further recognize that the economical campaigns structured by CHRY now further place their small/medium sized business budgets in line with their large market competitors. As the city’s “leading source for diversity” and ambassador for small business and community campaigns, CHRY encourages you to listen all day, all week for the shift in sound at 1055 FM and follow us on all social media outlets at chryradio.
